Jandy AquaPure Ei Salt Chlorine Generator Review

Bought this off of a different site, at a very discounted price...got the hard wired version. (don't do that!)
Bought it, installed it myself. Had a little issue with the cell leaking, but it's no big deal. Seemed like it was working great. I was cleaning my pool after a hard rain the day before and literally heard a "poof" and a massive amount of smoke coming from the ei unit. After reading "power outlet problem" on the screen, it died.

Called the company, and because it's hardwired they have to send out a technician. I called all five in the area, and all seem to be slammed. So, a week later, I still have a dead unit. I could return it, but then I have a 20% fee from the internet company I purchased it from. Apparently, I should have bought a plug in unit, then I could have unplugged it myself and brought it to one of these "professionals."

Now here's the kicker. I have to pay the technician to come out and check out the unit. That's $75. Shouldn't that be covered by Jandy? Apparently not. If I'd bought the plug in version, I wouldn't be out $75.

I'd stay away from this one. I think I should have bought one of the more traditional brand names.
