Plastic Pipe Ram Bit - 1-1/2 in. Review

On buying this, I was a bit skeptical of how it would perform and that was mostly because I could see that it was simply formed from stamped sheet steel.On the other hand, PVC is pretty soft and there was a mention of this product on Ask This Old House a couple of months ago, so it must work as advertised to some degree.

For my particular problem, I had a drain wye piece that was installed backwards and caused all of the drains in the house to gurgle.Because the wye was installed within 0.5 inch of the other fittings, I needed this tool to be able to reuse the fittings on either side of the wye joint.Otherwise, I would have had to replace a section of PVC consisting of 15+ different fittings and it would have been a much larger job.

The rambit did perform as expected.A mains powered electric drill is pretty much required since most battery operated drills don't really have the oomph to spin this tool(mine did, but I went through batteries faster than I could charge them and ended up using a corded drill).A 3/8 inch drill is fine even though the packaging specifies that you need 1/2 inch drill - it'll just take slightly longer.

Overall I think this is a great product, but don't expect it to perform as a professional tool.For the odd job here or there, it works great, but I don't think it would last very long if you're a professional plumber expecting to use this tool several times per week.

InstaSPA Instant Portable Spa Review

I purchased this item for my father who has a bad back.We were expremely pleased with this item until the second summer we attempted to use it.Two weeks after the warranty expired (1 year warranty) the heater/filter/pump stopped working.The manufacture was not willing to work with us about a discounted replacement etc.The spa, when working, is fantastic.the jets are strong, the heater worked well. The cover was safe (keeping children out).Other than the jets no longer working, the only other issue is the sand, debris that collects at the bottom.I would have serious concerns about buying this product due to the short life of the heater/filter/pump.

Pleatco PSTG5 filter cartridges Review

Comfort Line Spa Filter Cartridge / B00196U8MY

This filter does not fit all Comfort Line spas - specifically, it does not fit the Spa-2-Go Comfort Line spas. I purchased this and then had to find out the hard way that this filter is too tall to fit in the filter chamber - the lid cannot shut with this over-sized filter in place. I am returning it for a refund, but of course I had to pay shipping both ways. What a waste!

Currently, there is nothing in the product description to indicate that this does not fit the Spa-2-Go spas - the product currently claims to fit all Comfort Line spas. I hope this information will be updated soon.

1 QT TILE CLEANER #300 Review

One of the most difficult problems in owning a pool is dealing with calcium deposits and other minerals that harden on the pool tile. We live in an area in Central Arizona that has very hard water with heavy minerals. When pool water evaporates it leaves behind that familiar ring on the tile.We tried several products to loosen up the calcium deposits before trying BIO-DEX 300 including the old pumice stone. We followed the instructions on the bottle carefully and gave the product an adequate amount of time to do it's thing. We scrubbed the area with scotchbright pad for several minutes before and after applying the product as instructed. Unfortunately after multiple attempts the calcium deposits remained in place and there was absolutely no difference in the appearance of the tile.The bottom line is save your money, use a pumice stone and good old fashioned elbow grease. I have yet to find a product that works on tile to remove calcium or hard water ring.I purchased the product at Paddock for $22.00 plus tax, and when I tried to return it, was told in Arizona no chemicals can be returned.So tell me what good is BIO-DEX 300 guarantee when the customer is not allowed to return the product? Paddock told me to call BIO-DEX and since they are also in Arizona, maybe they will take it back, yeah right! The company that comes up with a product that can be applied to the tile and can be just rinsed off with a minimal amount of effort, can make millions!
